Bio: Carrie, Laura Becerra from Guadalajara México, is one of the leading young artists in a new wave of pop sounds coming from Mexico. Her music has appeared in samplers of electronica from indie labels such as Abolipop and Soundsister in México, and her demo caught the attention of many journalists and radio stations in Mexico and Spain that immediately praised her simple but sweet electronic songs she sings in English. Carrie's music is composed of warm electronic folk songs, full of dreamy tones and sophisticated twee. Carrie's breathy voice draws paralels to the sounds of Piana, Stina Nordenstam and Hope Sandoval, as she strums her guitar alongside a basic print of electronic sounds. Her honey voice floats into an unforgettable pool of soft melodies, cushioned beats and childlike wonder, as Carrie truly displays a unique sensibility that brings us close to a world full of love and humor. "Honey Blue Star" is a new chapter in a story that begins in 2001, when the Mexican Laura B. decides to start a solo project after playing with such groups as Mery Poppins, Barón Ashler and Miyagi. Since then, several of her songs have graced the compilations of Mexican labels including "Mars" (Mínimas Texturas 007, 2003, Discos Konfort), "Cat Power" (No estamos solos, 2003, Abolipop); "Eco" (Máximas Texturas, 2003, Discos Konfort) and "Sounds like Display" (Marzo, 2004, Soundsister Records), as well as "I. Sabotage" on the net label Música para Espías, which specializes in spoken word pieces. For her full-length debut, Laura has collaborated with the likes of Fernando Corona (better known for his work as Murcof and Terrestre on the Static Discos and Leaf imprints) and the record's producer Rubén Tamayo, whose records as Fax have appeared on the Static Discos, Traum and Rocketracer labels.
