Under Byen
June 15 2008

Århus, Denmark The art-rock band Under Byen (Danish for "under the city")
broke the music world
open with 2006’s North American release of its album "Samme Stof Som Stof". They
received world-wide critical acclaim for that recording, performed in such
unconventional locations as an 18th-century Belgian house, and a Swedish
forest. Their new EP "Siamesisk" is a collaboration with the chamber
orchestra Danish Radio Sinfonietta. The result is a showcase of Under Byen
working with a 42-piece classical orchestra to produce a collection that shivers
and swells with an icy sensuality, evoking the majestic Nordic glacial
terrain. Genre: Post-Rock

Palodine
June 15 2008

Seattle, Washington (USA) Children of Coal Miners and Mormon Immigrants don’t
usually make for good rock music candidates, but in the
case of Palodine they bring with them an underlying power and intensity which
tests the boundaries of dark American music. In 2006 Palodine
gave us their traumatically tender and gripping debut "Desolate Son". 2007 saw
Palodine opening for such acclaimed acts as Woven Hand, Willard Grant Conspiracy
and Low, as well as a return to the studio to work on their follow-up record.
"Garden Of Deceit" deliveres a darker and grittier interpretation of their
sound. Genre: Gothic Folk.

Els Pynoo
June 15 2008

Ghent, Belgium The ex top-model Els Pynoo met Danny Mommens (at that time
bass player of dEus) and founded with him the band Vive La Fête. Danny is a fan
of eighties synth pop, melancholic cold wave and back-to-basics electronica, and
you see that a lot in Vive La Fête albums. But in her solo single, you could see
that his wife Els instead loves breathy vocals and sixities French pop. For
the little story, the song "Toi sur moi" is the soundtrack for a French
contraception add. You could download the free mp3 on this site. Click on the world

The Postmarks
June 15 2008

Miami, Florida (USA) The Postmark's approach focuses on classic song writing
and features the blissful vocals of chanteuse Tim Yehezkely, who drew the music from a production of
melancholy to the solace of a broken heart on the mend, where it discovered a
place of sunny amnesty. All these facets have come together to create a sound
that has been described as "a suburban bedroom symphony suffused with
post-teenage heartbreak and painstaking pointillism." by The New Times
Broward/Palm Beach. Their music could be described as
heavily influenced by Brian Wilson, Bacharach and French pop. Genre:
Indie-Pop

The Whitsundays

Edmonton, Canada With reverent nods to the flower-picking whimsy of the
Zombies, the red-faced bluster of the Animals, and the delightful inanity of Syd
Barrett, the Whitsundays' self-titled debut is a vintage gem for any 60s
psychedelic music
fan. Genre: Indie-Pop

Sara Berg
June 15 2008

Stockholm, Sweden Her second album is like a concept one that centers on
themes of dignity and integrity (how far one is willing to go to achieve their
goals and what price they are prepared to pay). The album design is very
specific, she wanted a strong visual design to illustrate diginity, it's why
she's dressed in medieval armor. Her music is a mix of
electronica and pop music. Some critics are
suggesting she is the missing link between The Knife and Sally
Shapiro. Genre: Electronic
